Queens Zoo
Before Thanksgiving madness set in, we decided to drive out to Flushing and check out the Queens Zoo. We have used our family membership for the Brooklyn Aquarium, the Brooklyn Zoo, and the Central Park Zoo, but had yet to make it to Queens or to the Bronx.

The Queens Zoo was perfect - Easy to get to and full of interesting sights and sounds.
The aviary was built for the 1964 World's Fair and now houses some very cool birds.

The barnyard was the favorite (until one of the roosters pecked at Olivia through the fence).
The barnyard sure had us "cracking up"!

Right outside the zoo is a carousel. For their first time, the girls loved it.
Lillian sat by herself with the goofiest grin the entire time and complained when it was over. Olivia needed to sit with Mommy and was hesitant to start but came to love it right when the 4 minutes were almost up.

Of course we needed to have some overpriced vendor food to top off our fun day.
Popcorn and pretzels on a beautiful Fall day in NYC - doesn't get better than that.
Stay tuned...Bronx Zoo here we come.

-eating snacks (like popcorn).
-eating lunch (especially peanut butter sandwiches).

BFF's
A little over 13 months ago, Mommy got an email from a member of the Bay Ridge Parents Group. This woman, Amanda, had seen a post in which Mommy said something about having 9 month old twin girls. Amanda emailed to see if we would be interested in meeting up sometime because she also had twin girls who were around the same age.
So... On October 19, 2008, we all met at Owl's Head Park to play.
Amanda's girls (Tasnim and Zahrah) were born almost one month (to the day) after Lillian and Olivia.
From day 1, we knew Lil and Liv were destined to become "besties" with Mimi and ZZ.

It's been so fun watching them grow together this past year.
And, it's been nice getting to know Amanda and George. Experiencing raising twins together has definitely created a bond between not only the girls, but the parents as well.
Now that Lil and Liv can say their names, all we hear is "ZZ and Mimi?" like they are waiting for the girls to come over and play.We do love our play dates!
When Mormor and Grandpa Greg were looking for a table and chairs for the girls' early birthday present, we knew we would need 4 chairs to hold these friends.
We look forward to this next year and seeing just how much these gorgeous girls will continue to grow.

We love you ZZ and Mimi!
(Amanda and George, you're not so bad either!)

How Do YOU Measure Up?

Lillian measures in at about 3 feet of sweetness and has an extraordinary amount of love for all things kittie.

Olivia measures in at 3 feet of cuteness and has an extraordinary amount of love for all things "mine".

NYC Marathon
Last Sunday we walked to the corner of our street and cheered on those brave enough to run in the NYC Marathon. It was cold and gray outside but the girls had blast. Mayor Bloomberg (yes, the self-proclaimed "king" himself) kicked it off.
Lillian liked the view from up top.

The girls couldn't decide which was more interesting, the thousands of runners racing by us or the ramp on the street.

GO GO GO!
The girls needed a much deserved water break here at mile 4.
